Once you can stream directly from your amp in analogue format, via the DAC, directly to digital and into your PC, you dont need a PC sound card with pre-amp because you can stream directly to your computer. I quickly outgrew the Phillips 765 CDR high speed (double) copier. I am not a sophisticated audio engineer, just a person who likes to digitize vinyl and cassette (analog) signals to make them portable. A very powerful program used by professionals. Soundforge is probably the best there is. Audacity is a good program for the price (free).

If you want to do any kind of editing at all, you can't. Regarding the CDr machines, they're fine if you simply want to create a clone image of a sound file, in one format only. Taiyo Yuden invented the Compact Disc Recordable and that brand is regarded by many to be the best there is. When I burn CDr's I use Taiyo Yuden CDr media. Music CDr's are no different than any other CDr with the exception there is a small file of sorts that denotes it as a 'music' CDr. Everything that's not pertinent to satisfying biological needs can very easily be construed as an almost complete waste of money :)I'll assume that was a joke.
